Because sometimes the best way to experience a country is from the top
iFly in Singapore
Not quite ready to jump out of a plane? iFly Singapore provides the gravity-defying thrills of skydiving sans the heart-stopping fear. Located within Sentosa, this is the largest wind tunnel for indoor skydiving in South-east Asia, and it even offers you stunning views of the South China Sea. While indoor skydiving provides a fun experience in a safe, controlled environment, it’s definitely not skydiving’s wimpy cousin.
It’s a full-body workout that offers a real adrenaline rush. In fact, Singapore boasts some of the best indoor skydivers in the world (yup, it’s a thing). In addition to winning medals at competitions around the world, iFly Singapore’s athletes are also Guinness World Record holders.
Helicopter tour in Hong Kong
Hopping into a helicopter for an aerial tour of a city is nothing new, but with Heliservices Hong Kong, you’ll get a helicopter tour unlike any other. For one, did you know that 70% of Hong Kong is undeveloped land? That means a rich and varied landscape of lush greenery and undulating mountains, juxtaposed with dramatic views of sprawling skyscrapers, await you. What’s more, Heliservices has recently partnered with Peninsula Hotel to offer a bundle service where you get to enjoy a sumptuous dinner after your scenic helicopter experience. It’ll cost you a pretty penny, but if you’re out to wow someone with a splashy dinner date followed by a chopper ride over the city, this could be the way to do it.
Dinner In the Sky in Ho Chi Minh City
Imagine being strapped into your seat and suspended 195ft up in the air — just to have your dinner. That is the concept behind Dinner in the Sky, which has held events across the world, from Australia to Brazil, and South Africa to Dubai. In January 2016, Ho Chi Minh City saw its first Dinner in the Sky event, where 22 guests were treated to a spectacular gastronomic experience crafted by award-winning Executive Chef Sakal of Sofitel Saigon Plaza.
For upcoming events, the organizers hope to work with the government to host dinners at various historic sites. Outside the city, diners will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the charming Vietnamese countryside. While the exact location and dates for the next Dinner in the Sky Vietnam is yet to be confirmed, you can keep yourself posted by following them on Facebook.
Sky Experience Adventure in Cebu
The next time you’re in Cebu, make a beeline for Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, one of the tallest hotel towers in the Philippines. Here, you can conquer your fear of heights with the slew of breathtaking activities offered at Sky Experience Adventure. Tower Zip is probably the most thrilling of the activities, where you zip across two buildings on a zip-line almost 500 feet up in the air. Or try the Edge Coaster, an amusement ride that goes around the edge of the building — 38 floors up!
For something a little less high-octane, try Sky Walk Extreme, where you take a stroll on translucent glass flooring on the edge of the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers. But if even the thought of that is giving you the jitters, don’t worry — you’ll be strapped into an overhead safety harness the entire time.
Canyoneering in Cebu
We often talk about taking that “leap of faith” but at Kawasan Falls in Badian, Cebu, you can take a literal leap. Canyoneering is an activity where you explore the majestic Kawasan Falls by climbing, trekking, and yes, jumping into the river. Some of these jumps are compulsory — there is just no other way around the canyon — but don’t worry, they’re not that high (about 13 feet). The higher jumps, which are about 40ft, are optional. However, if you’re already there, why not take the plunge? Warning: experience of free falling can be addicting. That few seconds of plummeting through space is equal parts terrifying and thrilling!
