In 2015, around 6.6 million passengers arrived and departed from this terminal on international flights — a jump from 3.9 million the previous year. To accommodate the increase, things are changing — and some improvements have been made in order to give travelers a smoother experience.
• Expect an air-conditioned pedestrian link bridge between the terminal and Newport City this year. With elevators and moving walkways, it will make getting to each point much quicker. Newport City is home to office and residential areas, hotels, and shopping and entertainment hub Resorts World Manila.
• The NAIA Expressway was designed to ease traffic and cut down on travel time between the city and the airport. The toll road connects Terminal 3 to Skyway and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). The part of the road that links Terminals 1 and 2 and Macapagal Boulevard already opened last year.
• If you don’t have transportation, try Uber and Grab. Grab has booths between Bays 5 and 6 in the arrival hall. These also serve as their pick-up points, if you’re booking straight from the Grab app on your phone.
• You can board the UBE Express premium airport bus for the regular price of P300 (they also have P150 promos). This service features three routes — Roxas Boulevard, Makati and Entertainment City — with designated stops along the way, and the roomy, air-conditioned buses are equipped with GPS and WiFi.
• After a WiFi capacity upgrade of 1Gbps, travelers can tap into high-speed internet not just at Terminal 3, but all the other terminals too.
• Your spare change and foreign currency still have value. Deposit these into your PayPal account or for gift cards at the TravelersBox (travelersbox.com) kiosk. You can also choose to donate them.
• When it comes to amenities, there are three lounges plus more than 100 concessionaires spread across all four levels. So you have a lot of choices for dining, shopping for last-minute essentials, and other ways to spend your time. www.miaa.gov.ph
