Art in the Park started out as a humble venture in 2006, with just 12 art galleries housed in a handful of tents in Makati City’s Jaime C. Velasquez Park. Ten years on, it has proven to be one of the most eagerly anticipated art fairs in the Philippines, showcasing works by diverse galleries, collectives and student groups from across the country.

And the fair continues to grow from strength to strength. This year’s edition will feature an array of artworks – from paintings to pottery – by more than 60 galleries, collectives and student groups, each priced at just PHP40,000 and below. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the fair will also be reproducing signed limited-edition prints of artworks by prominent artists including Charlie Co, Joy Mallari and Jomike Tejido.

There’ll be food and drinks galore, too, with establishments like 8 Cuts burgers setting up shop. Plus, celebrated sculptor Daniel de la Cruz will be putting up a special exhibit of wax sculptures, which will be set alight like candles and left to melt. How’s that for a smokin’ hot attraction?

Art in the Park will be held on April 3, from 10am to 10pm, at Jaime C. Velasquez Park, Salcedo Village, Makati City. Visit artinthepark.ph to find out more.
