Go for dinosaurs, zines, fried chicken and beer in Macau, Melbourne and Seoul
Dino Time in Melbourne
Zoos Victoria in Melbourne has teamed up with Erth Visual & Physical Inc to produce a walkthrough experience with animatronic prehistoric creatures. Until July 14, dinosaurs roam Dino Park in Melbourne Zoo, Zoorasic in Werribee Open Range Zoo (about 40 minutes’ drive from central Melbourne) and MegaBeasts in Healesville Sanctuary (about 1.5 hours from the city). Keep an eye out for the dino keeper waking the dinosaurs from their slumber and hold your breath as they walk and roar right next to you. Tickets are A$37 (about ₱1,345) per adult, while kids aged four to 15 can enter free on weekends and holidays (otherwise, their tickets are A$19/₱690). The experience is open from 9.30am to 3.00pm daily. zoo.org.au
Chicken and beer in Korea
In South Korea, chicken and beer are synonymous with a good time with friends and family — so much so that there’s even an annual festival dedicated to it: the Daegu Chimac Festival (from July 17 to 21), held at Duryu Park, Daegu, 2.5 hours away from Seoul by train. Get snacks from booths set up by the various local fried chicken brands, shop brand merchandise and stay for live K-pop and cultural performances. Tour packages covering entry and transfers between Seoul and Daegu (from about ₱2,195 per person) can be booked through online ticketing agents such as Klook and HaB Korea. chimacfestival.com
