Basic Movement Philippines—a digital marketplace for independent designers, streetwear brands, and other fashion lifestyle businesses who promote well-designed products, responsible practices, and conscious consumption—have tapped their network of creatives to sell reusable face masks to the public. And with every purchase, Basic Movement donates of medical-grade masks to medical practitioners.
For every purchase of face masks from its brands, the store will be using its Marketplace Commission fees for the next two months in donating five N95 Masks to healthcare front liners through the Faceshield Drive Plus Team.
“Fashion and design has always been a reflection of the times,” says Basic Movement. “During this uncertain period of our lives, we would like to support our front liners, keep creativity alive, and support our brands.”
The Basic Movement team explains, “The washable, reusable fabric face masks are made to fit as many faces as possible. Fabrics are left-over materials in designer studios. These masks are non-medical grade—but if used correctly, should help contribute to less person-to-person droplet transmission. Masks are tested using a Lighter test. Using fabric masks would lessen the demand of N95 and surgical masks in the market, leaving them more for healthcare professionals and those most at risk/need it the most.”
