Know how to get to, where to eat, shop and relax at the airport
Formerly known as Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Clark International Airport is a major airport in the Philippines. It’s located at the heart of Angeles City in Pampanga province, close to two hours from the Philippine capital of Manila via the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The Philippine government is currently pushing for the development of Clark airport as an alternative to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the country’s main international gateway located in busy Metro Manila. With the future completion of a new passenger terminal at Clark, the airport is envisioned to accommodate 12 million passengers from the current 4.2 million per year.
Get to the airport
Aside from rental cars and taxi cabs, shuttle services and public buses are also an option for travelers. There is also a special service for Clark airport passengers available in Trinoma Mall located in northern Metro Manila, which could easily be accessed via the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), buses, public utility jeepneys, and private vehicles. The Clark Airport Lounge at Trinoma is fully furnished and is open 24/7. It features a comfortable waiting area, secured luggage counter, and real-time flight status updates. One-way bus fare to Clark International Airport costs P250.
Passengers may avail of their duty-free shopping privileges at Duty Free Philippines’ 46-sqm store at the arrival area. The shop offers a considerable mix of confectionery, liquors/wines and spirits, cigarettes, and fragrances from popular brands. Duty Free Philippines also has a smaller outlet at the pre-departure section. Customs regulations apply.
Since the airport is currently undergoing a major overhaul, food options are limited to small kiosks offering rice bowls (chicken, beef stew, fish, etc.), stuffed sweet buns, cookies, brownies, and mini cupcakes. Those who have time to explore the city could try resto-hopping and sample famous dishes unique to the province. Cafe Noelle, located in nearby SM City Clark, is known for its luscious cakes and classic comfort food. Cafe Fleur, found in the heritage district of Angeles City, offers an exciting line of avant-garde Kapampangan fusion dishes.
There is free WiFi airport for passengers in transit. Travelers who wish to stay for a longer period of time in Clark may opt to stay in nearby hotels such as Lewis Grand Hotel, which provides a tourist-friendly atmosphere, seven types of rooms, and high-speed Internet access; and Century Hotel Angeles City, just 10 minutes away from the airport and showcases attractive contemporary rooms, an outdoor pool, and spa and massage facilities.
