Ask The Expert!
Q: I’m new to essential oils. What now?
1 — Get to know your essential oils (EOs). Know their healing properties and recognize how some oils require extra care and precautions.
2 — Measure with care. The amount of EO used doesn’t necessarily correlate with efficacy. In some cases, more oil used can lead to more harm than good. Always follow the recommended dilution and application amounts for kids and adults, and especially so in devices that distribute aromas aggressively.
3 — Do not ingest. Some oils, such as tea tree an eucalyptus, are toxic — our throat tissues and internal organs are vulnerable to irritation and burns — and should not be swallowed.
4 — Keep them away from pets. Keep animals away from bottles, burners or diffusers that they might lick or tip over.
