Andrew Lloyd Webber, composer and producer behind such musicals as Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera and School of Rock, responds to the global slowdown with The Shows Must Go On!, a YouTube series that sees his hit shows being aired for free for a limited time. One show is to be released each Friday (from 1 April; at 2am Manila time) and made available for 48 hours.

The film version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2000), starring Donny Osmond, Richard Attenborough, Joan Collins and more, was first to air. The next session, slated for Good Friday (Saturday morning for us), is the stage version of Jesus Christ Superstar (2012), featuring Melanie C, Chris Moyles, Ben Forster and more.

Besides the gift of his shows, Webber also leaves a call-to-action for his viewers. He appeals for donations to these three appointed arts causes: Acting for Others (UK); Broadway Cares (US); and the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW (Australia).

Subscribe, pay it forward and enjoy the program!
