Celebs Read ‘James and the Giant Peach’ — For a Good Cause

Bedtime stories just got more fun. Taika Waititi leads his famous friends in a Youtube reading of this childhood classic.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi has brought together some famous friends for a recorded reading of Roald Dahl’s 1961 classic children’s book, James and the Giant Peach, to raise money for US-based healthcare non-profit Partners In Health.

All the chapters will be spread across 10 episodes, available for viewing on the Roald Dahl HQ’s Youtube page. New episodes will be released every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am PST (1am Manila time). You can catch Episode 1 here.

Waititi is known for his work on Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok (2017), as well as writing and directing the Oscar-nominated 2019 film Jojo Rabbit, of which he won Best Adapted Screenplay. Celebrities who’ve joined him in readings include Chris and Liam Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch and Meryl Streep, to name a few. Look forward to other cameos in further chapters from the likes of Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Lupita Nyong’o and even celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Through this project, the Roald Dahl Story Company aims to support Partners In Health (PiH) in raising funds to continue protecting vulnerable communities around the world from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company will match every donation to PiH.
