Fast cars, rip-roaring concerts, glitzy parties — once again the Singapore Grand Prix is upon us. Whether you’re in it for the automobiles and adrenaline rush or just the sensational performances by the music world’s hottest acts, there’s no doubt the world-famous night race is a real crowd-pleaser. If you’re in town for the F1 weekend (September 15-17, 2017) and need to eat on a budget (because — let’s face it — race tickets and concert fees aren’t exactly pocket-friendly), here are five places to visit around the Marina Bay Street Circuit that won’t break the bank. Also, you might want to save this map to help you navigate around the area. You’re welcome!

Casual Japanese eatery Uma Uma is known for their ramen, but why not try their more inexpensive delights like the donburis? Options like the Chasiu Don and Karaage Don cost $6, while their kushikatsu (deep-fried breaded skewers) like prawn and scallop cost anywhere from S$3 to S$5. If you have room for dessert, treats like the Coffee Jelly with Hokkaido vanilla ice-cream costs just S$4. 9 Raffles Blvd, Millenia Walk, #02-06 Nihon Food Street

NamNam Noodle Bar
Nearest entrance/exit: Gate 3

Love Vietnamese street food? Get your pho and banh mi fix at NamNam Noodle Bar. Featuring traditional recipes with a modern twist, NamNam Noodle Bar offers choices like the pho chicken (S$9) and the sautéed lemongrass pork banh mi with cream cheese (S$7.50). Best of all, 95% of their menu does not contain MSG. 252 North Bridge Rd, #B1-46/47 Raffles City Shopping Centre

One of L.A.’s biggest food trucks has just landed in Singapore. The owner, Daniel Shemtob, won Season 2 of reality television series The Great Food Truck Race in 2011, and decided to park his venture at gourmet food hall PasarBella @ Suntec City in August 2017. Tacos are the focus here, and they go for no more than S$5 a pop. Try options like the Slow Braised Pork Belly (comes with sambal for that bit of local flavour) or the vegan-friendly Potato Taco served with chimichurri. 3 Temasek Blvd, Suntec City, North Wing, #01-K39 PasarBella @ Suntec City

Makansutra Gluttons Bay
Nearest entrance/exit: Gate 7

If you prefer going the local fare route all the way, hit up Makansutra Gluttons Bay at the Esplanade. The open-air space showcases the best of Singapore’s offerings, with food stalls side by side selling favourites like chicken rice, fried carrot cake, and oyster omelette. Items here generally don’t cost more than S$6, and you can always order a few dishes to share with your buddies. 8 Raffles Ave, #01-15 Esplanade Mall
