Check out these newly opened Filipino restaurants in Poblacion, Makati!
Loco Manuk
This Latin- and Asian-inspired restaurant on the corner of P Burgos and B Valdez Streets serves a menu of Filipino fusion dishes—think sisig bao, miso aubergine rice bowls and its bestselling wood-roasted chicken, basted with star apple juice. Down it with local craft beers from The Cebruery and Juan Brew. While waiting for your order, take as many Instagram shots as you want with the quirky interiors as your backdrop.
Esqinita Modern Carinderia Bar + Grill
Renowned chef Rob Pengson is back from hiatus with Esqinita, an homage to the Philippines’ ubiquitous carinderia, the humble eateries where Filipinos go for workaday meals. The menu offers elevated Filipino fare—try the truffle lechon, oyster aburi, and sisig gambas curry. Find it in a small building located along P. Guanzon Street.
Lampara
Reader Derek Yazon (IG: @dekyazon) recommends: “Poblacion brings to mind great drinks, awesome DJs and fun crowds. But that’s not all it has to offer. Check out Lampara on Enriquez Street, which offers a cozy ambience and excellent food. Try the Dinuckduckan (duck breast with fried egg), duck leg and spare ribs and you’ll definitely be wanting more!”
